Our planet is getting closer and closer to the critical point of no return. This critical point I am referring to is when we have taken so many resources from our planet that it no longer will be able to sustain life. Each passing day we pollute more water and cut down more trees. We overload our electrical grids and ruin ecosystems with hydroelectric dams.

A self sufficient existence is what we aim for. Nobody likes to dole out electricity bills to big companies each month. However, most of us either do not have a choice, or do not know about the alternatives. Solar energy is an increasingly popular and cost effective alternative to meet our energy needs.

Spain is heavily promoting the use of solar energy. Today, it is the fourth largest producer of solar energy in the world. A very large part of its energy output also goes to Germany. When we think about how much of the sun's energy that falls on the surface of the earth is not utilised and essentially wasted, it seems perfectly sensible that sunny Spain promotes solar energy.
